An established Australian manufacturer delivering complex, high‑value projects across the energy, infrastructure, and industrial sectors is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead its commercial function and drive strong contractual and commercial outcomes across the business.
The Opportunity
In this pivotal role, you will oversee the full commercial lifecycle — from pre‑contract strategy and tender governance through to contract administration, performance management, and close‑out. You’ll work closely with senior leadership, project teams, and external stakeholders to safeguard commercial integrity and support successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead pre‑contract activities including bid strategy, tender reviews, risk assessment, and submission governance.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with clients and subcontractors.
- Manage the transition from tender award to project mobilisation.
- Oversee a portfolio of complex, high‑value contracts and long‑term agreements.
- Ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and quality requirements.
- Identify risks, implement mitigation strategies, and resolve disputes.
- Lead head contract compliance, including notices, claims, variations, EOTs, and remeasurements.
- Provide commercial guidance and mentoring to project teams.
- Prepare concise commercial reports for senior leadership.
- Maintain strong knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and innovations.
- Manage and develop a team of Contract Administrators.
About You
- Ideally degree‑qualified in Law (commercial/contract focus) OR extensive commercial management experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- Strong negotiator — calm, articulate, and solutions‑focused.
- Experienced in managing complex contracts and high‑value project portfolios.
- Able to work under pressure while maintaining clarity, professionalism, and sound judgement.
